Food Trip épisode 46 : KILLED BY THE TUAN
Mes sœurs et moi décidons de faire une sortie entre filles. Le choix du restaurant est difficile parce que je veux faire d’une pierre deux coups en écrivant un article sur le lieu visité. Je propose l’Hippopotamus au Plateau, mais comme j’ai déjà écrit un article dessus, je suis un peu hésitante. Ma sœur (la fidèle compagne de test) propose le Wasabi (c’est son restaurant préféré) ou le Beijing (son deuxième restaurant préféré).
Je me décide pour des Hacao vapeurs (j’adore ce met) et du mérou à la sauce caramel et au poivre noir qui est une spécialité de la maison. Ma partenaire in crime prends des nems impériaux et du poulet au citron (ce plat est absent de la carte, mais le serveur nous apprend qu’ils peuvent improviser) enfin, notre dernière se décide pour des beignets au poulet et du poulet a l’ananas. En boisson, nous prenons une bouteille d’eau Awa et en accompagnement du riz cantonnais (toujours).
Pour nous faire patienter, on nous apporte des chips de crevettes (ils sont délicieux) et une salade de légumes marinés dans une vinaigrette salée sucrée (ils sont très bons et la vinaigrette est bien faite). Nous échangeons en riant mes sœurs et moi, prenons des photos pour mon article et enfin, nos entrées arrivent.
En attendant les plats principaux, nous profitons des plaintes de Nadiaska (le surnom de mon élément sur). Elle est en colère parce que son entrée est loin, très loin de l’excellence. Elle ne comprend pas que de vulgaires nems à peine parfaits (manque de craquant, d’épaisseur, de saveurs) coûtent aussi cher. Tatouska notre dernière ne fait que chanter les louanges de ses beignets de poulets, ce qui n’aide pas du tout à faire descendre la pression. Nos plats arrivent enfin.
Le riz cantonnais coûte 2500 FCFA et l’eau minérale coûte 2000 FCFA.
En conclusion, le Tuan nous laisse un désagréable souvenir que le service excellent et le cadre enchanteur ne peuvent estomper.
Pour qui ? Pour les rendez-vous d’affaires, les dîners entre amis, ou les soirées à deux.
Quand ? Plus en soirée (c’est mon point de vue), les week-ends, les vendredis soir.
Budget ? À partir de 15000 FCFA (les prix sont assez élevés sûrement à cause de la situation géographique)

Food Trip Episode 46:
My sisters and I decided to make a girls night out. The choice of restaurant is hard because I want to make one stone by writing an article on the place visited. I propose the Hippopotamus at the Plateau, but as I have already written an article on it, I’m a little hesitant. My sister (the faithful companion test) offers Wasabi (his favorite restaurant) or Beijing (his second favorite restaurant).
I tell myself that if she offers two Asian restaurants and has the support of our last is that they want to eat Asian. So I remember one day ordered through Hellofood a meal at Tuan. They had enjoyed the meal and as I have not written about this restaurant I offer them. They agree with me to discover the Tuan who is a Vietnamese restaurant located near the Life Star facing the lagoon Boulevard in the Plateau.
Just entries, we are dazzled by the great decor of the place arranged that sail between elegance and traditionalism. Customers seem to be present off. We are delighted not to have us out the door because of our sartorial simplicity. We sat at a table and I particularly appreciate the partition panels that give us some privacy. The server comes to us with menus. Her smile a bit (more than that in my opinion) mocking bothers us much.
I decide for Hacao vapors (I love this dish) and Merou caramel sauce and black pepper which is a house specialty. My partner in crime takes imperial spring rolls and lemon chicken (this dish is missing from the map, but the server tells us they can improvise) finally decides for our last chicken fritters and chicken with the pineapple soup. For the beverage, we take a bottle of Awa water and take fried rice (always) to eat the soup chosen. To make us wait, they bring us shrimp chips (they are delicious) and a marinated vegetable salad in a sweet vinaigrette salty (they are very good and dressing well done). We exchange laughing my sisters and I take photos for my article and finally, our entrees arrived.
My Hacao vapors are excellent (5000 FCFA). I have no complaints. They are cooked to perfection (they are neither too firm nor too fluxes). The sauce is amazing with its sour and fruity flavors. It adapts perfectly to Hacao. I deplore the tiny amount served for the price.
The spring rolls are common imperative (3000 FCFA). They are more akin to the mundane egg rolls commerce. And the amount is ridiculous for this award. My sister is disappointed (offended). The chicken donuts are delicious I proclaim (4000 FCFA)! They have a very good quality / price ratio.
Our last was smiling and I easily understand. My trusty tester made by cons frown. Meanwhile the main courses, we take complaints Nadiaska (the nickname of my element on). She is angry because his input is far, far excellence. She does not understand that vulgar hardly perfect spring rolls (lack of crisp, thick, flavors) also expensive. Tatouska our last only sing the praises of his chicken fritters, which does not help at all to lower the pressure.
Our dishes finally arrived. My grouper caramel and black pepper sauce (7,500 FCFA) comes in a terracotta bowl kind of mini kedjenou (flat stewed). Inside is a big slice of grouper in a dark or military green, rust sauce (the version of the military who rises from the mud after crawling). The strong smell worries me a little (a lot). My sisters looked at me. They expect my reaction after the first bite. I take in my mouth full of rice and fish fork soaks in sauce and I have a few minutes, silent gaze into the distance. I am filled with a sauce flavored fermented soybean highly I do not understand. I am shocked because I can not describe the feelings within me at that moment. What I can say is that it is odd (very) and not in a good way. This sauce is a specialty it is possible that, not being Asian, I do not understand it brings the flavors on the palate. I will say that for those who love, comfort and safety this dish is not recommended.
The lemon chicken (7,000 FCFA) is… How to say without being nasty? Atrocious? Cruel? Source paths of deterioration of the food drive? (Take the end, it’s quite serious). This dish is terrible sour. Avoid at all costs if it is subject to the ulcer. It is saturated with low quality lemon pieces (a sizeable bitterness) which, in a tangy sauce that is already itself, can only bring down its value at zero level if not below. The chicken can be eaten by one against. It is in the form of blown donut, that is to say crispy outside and melting inside. But if you must extract the chicken from the sauce and eat with rice only then, the dish is a resounding failure. Nadiaska which already has trouble forgetting the imperial spring rolls is on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
Tatouska made a faultless with his chicken with pineapple (7,000 FCFA), which is a marvel of sweet and sour flavors. It is tasty and generous. Chickens are melting at will and adapt perfectly to the sauce.
We choose all three to accompany the fried rice (always) and there is the shock. Already the egg odor (not fresh) we thought rises to the throat. This is the first time that we feel such a smell of the fried rice. Although the taste is imperceptible because of sauces that accompany it, the lingering smell of the rice breaks the low esteem we have for the restaurant and its surroundings. For my sister, this is the pompom.
The fried rice costs 2500 FCFA and mineral water costs 2000 FCFA. In conclusion, Tuan leaves an unpleasant memory the excellent service and the enchanting setting cannot fade.
For who? For business appointments, dinners with friends, or two evenings.
When? More evening (my perspective), weekends, Friday evening.
Budget? From FCFA 15,000 (prices are probably quite high because of the geographic location)
