MONDOUKOU. IDYLLIC BEACH
Ils proposent une carte pas très riche avec des prix un peu au dessus de la moyenne (si on compare aux autres enseignes de la zone) exemple : un jus nature à 4000 FCFA.

« Not so idyllic after all »
Idyllic beach is a restaurant on the seafront in Mondoukou (after Bassam and before Bonoua).
MONDOUKOU. IDYLLIC BEACH
They offer a menu that is not very rich with prices that are a little above average (if you compare them to the other shops in the area), e.g. a natural juice at 4000 FCFA.
Idyllic beach has a well-used space with a swimming pool, a superb view of the sea, and a cleanliness that makes you want to walk on the beach.
The setting is embellished with coloured sails and it is beautiful.
But that’s where it ends.
The seats are uncomfortable and not appropriate for the place, exposed to the weather, many are degraded. The pool is not so clean and finally, the service is bad. I might as well say it by name.
We came to have lunch, enjoy the beach and have fun at 10.30am when the place opened, and were first snubbed by the waitress who said « have you booked? » before seating us at the end of the space at the most degraded table.
We demanded to be moved, which was done. We then had to wait 30 minutes to be asked what we wanted to eat.
We placed the order, asked if there was a breakfast available while we waited but no « there wasn’t ». We found out later that there was coffee but apparently they wouldn’t give it to us.
So we asked for sodas. They will come hot with a bucket and a single bag of ice to cool them down.
First drinks, walk on the beach, we come back 1 hour later, no food. No food. We start again. One of the waiters asks us but what did you order? Ok (he will ask us 3 times the same question).
The other customers arrived after us and already a table of 6 is being served. But what about us?
We ask again what we ordered. We are on our second warm drinks when I see that one of the waiters is taking a cake and will surely put it in the fridge. So why are we being served this type of drink?
I decide that enough is enough.
I go to the cashier to pay what I owe.
The waitress at the beginning (who snubbed us) says: « ah ok, I’m looking for your change ».
The owner, who turns out to be an acquaintance, tells me: « if I knew it was you I would have come to talk to you, sorry, the braised chicken takes time (3 hours???) ».
Since they wanted to give me my change without any worries and despite the deplorable attitude of the cashier, it was cool for them. We went somewhere else, like two steps away, so as not to spoil this so nice outing on Mondoukou.
